A Lick of Paint for Wexford

A Lick of Paint for Wexford

Wexford ‘s  Main Street is getting a make-over thanks to an innovative project headed up by Wexford Chamber, Wexford Borough Council and Dulux.    The aim of the project is to give the Main Street a new look and to transform the shopping area into a more attractive place.
Wexford Chamber has teamed up with Dulux who will be offering free advice to retailers on colour schemes for the exteriors of their premises. Dulux paint will be offered at a discounted price from a local store and the painting will be done by local painting contractors, who will be offering their services also at a discounted price. If you are interested in this project, please register your name with Wexford Chamber by telephoning 053 91 22226. This offer will initially be limited to the first 80 retailers to register but it is hoped that a second phase will be rolled out later in the year. Representatives from the Chamber will call over the coming days and further information will be available from them.
A meeting will be held in Whites of Wexford on Wednesday, 6th March from 6.30 – 8.00 p.m.   Wexford already has seen huge improvements along the Main Street thanks to the wonderful people of the town and all the voluntary work they carry out. Their enthusiasm is beyond belief. Many businesses already have their premises looking bright and cheery, something that is proven to attract business.
Wexford Chamber is hoping for a good turnout on the 6th March. Madeleine Quirke, CEO Wexford Chamber said “This will mark the continuation of the town’s rejuvenation plan to encourage tourism and enterprise. Tidy Towns and Wexford in Bloom continue to bring great improvement and colour to Wexford Town and with everybody making an extra effort, Wexford Town may well achieve a Silver Medal in the National Tidy Towns Competition this year.”
Similar projects have taken place across Ireland and the results have been fantastic. Madeleine said “I would encourage every retail premises to take part in this scheme – it is affordable and will make such a difference to the overall appearance of our town.”
