Baker Tilly International Welcomes Enniscorthy based firm Hughes Blake to Network

Baker Tilly International has admitted Hughes Blake as its member firm in the Republic of Ireland, effective immediately. Rebranding as Baker Tilly Hughes Blake, the firm will hire 60 people to support its growth plans over the next three years.

Headquartered in Dublin, with offices in Enniscorthy and Cork, Baker Tilly Hughes Blake is a multidisciplinary firm with four partners and 60 professional and support staff. The firm has a focus on servicing mid-market entrepreneurial, owner-managed and family-owned businesses.

Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD, Minister of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, joined the Baker Tilly Hughes Blake team to mark the milestone.

“This is a fantastic day for one of Ireland’s leading full service accounting firms as it joins together with international network Baker Tilly. I welcome the news that Baker Tilly Hughes Blake is to hire 60 additional people. This is a positive development which reflects both the increasingly global ambitions of Irish business owners, with many planning to scale up and break into new markets, as well as the continued strength of foreign direct investment in Ireland,” said Minister Mitchell O’Connor.

The new roles will span all practice areas from audit and taxation to corporate finance and recovery. They will encompass a variety of experience levels, from recent graduates through to director and partner level. Speaking on the announcement, Ted Verkade, CEO and president of Baker Tilly International said: “We are delighted to welcome Baker Tilly Hughes Blake to our network. The team has built up a vibrant business in Ireland, where it has operated since its origins in 1916, and is known in the market place as being more than just a firm of accountants. With this appointment, we are strengthening our position in a growing market that holds significant investment interest for global businesses. The Baker Tilly International network has a worldwide reach which means that the firm’s Irish clients will receive excellent support as they break into new markets.”

Neil Hughes, managing partner, Baker Tilly Hughes Blake, said: “Becoming a member of Baker Tilly International will enable us to support our existing clients in a range of new ways. We work with a wide array of indigenous mid-market businesses who are increasingly keen to expand overseas. Together with our new colleagues in 141 countries, we will be able to support clients throughout their growth journey  while giving them access to crucial local knowledge.

“This is also a tremendous growth opportunity for Baker Tilly Hughes Blake. As a full service firm, we are well positioned to work with Irish and international businesses across their audit, tax, corporate recovery, corporate finance, company secretarial and business advisory needs. Under the leadership of my partners Kieran McCarthy, Stephen McGivern and Alma O’Brien, we have invested in building up experienced teams across each of these disciplines, and having welcomed 15 new team members so far this year, it is something we will continue to do at an accelerated pace as we hire 60 additional people over the next three years,” Mr Hughes added.
