Wexford Festival Opera is Going Green!
Businesses looking to green up their operations are invited to attend a free workshop on Wednesday, 14th July from 8.45 am to 1 pm in the Talbot Hotel Wexford. The initiative is being spearheaded by Wexford Festival Opera who, in conjunction with Wexford Chamber, Environmental Protection Agency and their National Waste Protection Programme, are set to embark on an exciting and innovative programme to Green the Opera Festival.
As part of this ambitious programme Wexford Festival Opera will be one of the first festivals in to embrace the greening process. The Opera House will implement the Green Hospitality Awards programme criteria and is inviting all suppliers of tourism and business services to join them in this process with the objective to have the Wexford Festival Opera branded as a Green Tourism Festival.
A morning workshop, running from 8:45 – 10:45, will identify the steps businesses need to take to achieve environmental recognition and certification and how Wexford Festival Opera will promote supporters of this scheme. Following this session there will be an introduction to the criteria and the detailed process members will need to take to achieve certification. This will run from 11.00am to 1.00 pm.
Environmental experts from the Green Tourism Festivals Programme will explain the business, marketing, cost saving and legislative reasons and benefits that should encourage businesses to join with Wexford Opera House in making Wexford Festival Opera one of the premier Green Festivals in.
The overall focus of the programme is to encourage businesses to become more sustainable by reducing their consumption of energy, water and by reducing waste. Businesses that have already adopted theses steps around can show annual savings ranging from €5,000 to €100,000.
