A Grand Adventure for All at Chamber Networking Event in Wells House & Gardens

A Grand Adventure for All at Chamber Networking Event
Wells House & Gardens a National Treasure

Wexford Chamber kicked-off their new season of Business After Hours networking events on Wednesday 21st February 2018 when over 50 Chamber members gathered in Wells House & Gardens  to explore the great Victorian House and Gardens set on 450 acres in Ballyedmond, Gorey while making new business connections.

Guests soaked up the remarkable 400 year history of the 17th century manor with a mini guided house tour.  Lead by a guide in Victorian dress, the tour provided attendees with a unique insight into the life of previous generations and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.  The delight continued with a sneak preview of their new wedding and corporate venue, Robertson Hall, set on the woodland grounds of the estate.

Welcoming everybody to the Chambers first Business After Hours event of 2018, Madeleine Quirke, CEO Wexford Chamber thanked Sabine Rosler and Niamh Carolan for their lovely welcome, Wexford Bus for bringing guests there from Wexford town and Gorey Chamber for partnering Wexford Chamber in promoting this special event.

Complimenting Uli and Sabine Rosler on the wonderful tourism product they have developed at Wells House & Garden, Madeleine said, ‘The house is of amazing historical importance, built in the late 1600s and the gardens and surrounding landscape are a national treasure.  I think that Ireland’s Ancient East tagline, Wander Through Time, was written with Wells House in mind’.

‘County Wexford has forever it seems been the holiday of choice for people across Ireland.  The railway has provided easy access over the years and there is no doubt that we have a very strong and respected brand when it comes to tourism.  Now at the cornerstone of Ireland’s Ancient East, journeying through the ages of Wexford’s history, heritage and culture is an opportunity not to be missed, especially here at Wells House & Gardens’, commented Madeleine.

‘Wexford offers a wonderful calendar of events throughout the year in terms of culture, arts and festivals drawing big crowds to our town and county.  It is imperative that we have high calibre offsite activities to support the industry, and activities that are family friendly and affordable.  Again Wells House ticks all of these boxes’, Madeleine concluded.

Owner Sabine Rosler explained that their vision in 2012 was, and still is, to restore the Daniel Robertson designed house and grounds back to the 1800’s, using the original plans. As a result of the invaluable help from Tony Ennis, together with the Feasibility study funded by the Wexford Local Development, Wells House were in a position to secure the major project funding required in order to open the house and gardens up to the public.

As the business continues to grow, so does their level of reinvestment into developing the house and grounds.  This year, Sabine said they launched the new Wells House wedding packages, to include a fine dining, luxury offering which takes place entirely in the Great Dining Hall of Wells House for more intimidate weddings of up to 50 people.  In addition, they have restored a new corporate & wedding venue on the grounds, the Roberston Hall, to seat up to 160 people.

Sharing their plans for the future, Sabine mentioned that as a result of their involvement with Ireland’s Ancient East, the Rosler family are looking to work together with Failte Ireland to restore the basement of the house, to facilitate an upstairs/downstairs house tour and also have plans to develop the lake over the coming years.

Sabine paid tribute to their customers, the Chamber, Visit Wexford, LoveGorey, Wexford County Council and thanked them for their ongoing support in ensuring that tourist numbers at Wells House & Gardens are growing year on year.

Sabine’s daughter Niamh Carolan, who grew up in the house as a child and returned home from London last year to join the family business as Marketing Manager and Corporate Liaison, said that Wells House also recently added to their exciting range of facilities and activities on offer, with the introduction of their new corporate packages, to include fine dining, tea parties and team building events.
