AIB Branch Illustrates Confidence in Wexford and Its Business Community
Over 60 local businesses joined AIB Wexford for a Business After Hours networking evening last Thursday 26th January to celebrate the launch of its recently refurbished Branch and new Self-Service Lobby, in association with Wexford Chamber.
Welcoming all to the newly refurbished AIB branch in North Main Street, Wexford, Karl Fitzpatrick, President of Wexford Chamber said, “It is not in the so distance past that business owners were hesitant about engaging with their bank as there was a sentiment that the banks were not lending but with the number of people here tonight to support this very event, there is no doubt that that sentiment has disappeared.”
“To me this refurbishment, which up to now would only be seen in major AIB branches and cities across the Country, really is an illustration of the confidence that AIB has in Wexford and its business community,” concluded Karl.
Mayor of Wexford, Cllr. Frank Staples said, “This state-of-the- art branch shows that AIB Wexford is putting its customer first and also answering demands on the bank for a facility that works best for them. I would like to take this opportunity to thank AIB for its ongoing commitment to working with the local business people in Wexford as well as supporting our cultural community.”
AIB Wexford has come a long way since it opened its doors in Wexford some 180 years ago. In recent years AIB Wexford has transformed its business to be more focussed on customer needs, with flexible banking hours, the latest in branch technologies, and significant improvements in mobile and online banking.
Speaking about the branch refurbishment, Jim O’Shea, Branch Manager at AIB Bank Wexford commented that, “AIB Wexford was one of the flagship branches to be chosen for this level of upgrade and we are one of 10 branches in the Country to have a Lobby with extended opening hours, thanks to the support of the people of Wexford and its environs over many years.”
The main vision of the new design was to create as much customer space as possible in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere which is more conducive to doing business. The refurbishment includes a new self-service lobby which is open from 8.00am to 9.00pm seven days per week, 364 days per year, to complement existing branch opening hours. This almost trebles the number of hours that customers can access bank services.
Jim continued by saying, “At AIB Wexford we pride ourselves on giving customers choice in how they wish to interact, with many choosing online and mobile banking services and increasing numbers using our self-service devices. As a result, for the customers who prefer a personal service, we have devoted more staff to our new Banking Hall and Lobby areas to assist customers with their financial needs. This has also allowed us to be able to dedicate a larger team of relationship managers who are available to meet customers at their place of business or in the Branch.”
