“It’s good to talk” is a Community-Counselling Partnership and Mental Health Care Network Service Provider available in Wexford. We provide professional low-fee-paying Counselling Psychotherapy support to all.
The service offers access to psychological therapies provided by counselling professionals who hold a minimum level 7 (Ordinary Degree) qualification in counselling/psychotherapy/psychological fields including Honours Degree, Masters Degree and Doctrate graduates from institutes recognised by the National Framework of Qualifications in Ireland.
We also provide education for individuals to develop self-help strategies and positive coping skills to help individuals and groups overcome mental health problems; community workshops and courses; assistance in training for those involved in the study of counselling and psychotherapy; and continuous professional development programmes.
Working alongside local agencies and groups, the cornerstone of our work is continuous opposition to and the elimination of any stigma associated with mental health problems, emotional difficulties and behavioural issues. We vigorously endorse evidence-based talk-therapies as suitable treatment to ameliorate mental and emotional wellness. Working alongside our local community connections, we actively advocate highest standards of professionalism within Mental Health Care, and much needed improvements in our Mental Health Care Services in Ireland.
Our organisation is governed by a Board of Directors and Sub-Committees to ensure that the highest standards of professional care are provided at all times. The services are provided by: fully affiliated professionally accredited IACP, IAHIP and IAAAC Counsellors jointly with qualified Counselling Psychotherapists and trainees graduating from the Irish College of Humanities and Applied Sciences, Limerick, studying towards B.A. (Hons.) Degree and M.A. Degree levels in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and who are currently working towards Professional Accreditation with the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Ireland (APCP). In addition, all service providers are supervised by IACP Accredited Supervisors for Counselling Supervision. Together we are governed by Memorandum and Articles of Association and Foundation Agreement of Objectives and Rule including: “it’s good 2 talk” policies, protocols, internal induction procedures and specific organisational model.
Our aim, as enshrined in our governing instrument, is to provide access to Counselling and Psychotherapy for the community, and where appropriate, we provide professional therapies arranged for service-users/clients personal circumstances free of charge. The counsellors and therapists delivering this Service act in a professional manner and at all times abide by Ethical Frameworks for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, of or recognised by nationally recognised professional accrediting bodies including the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Ireland (APCP) and the Irish Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (IACP).
‘It’s Good 2 Talk’ is a Community Based Counselling & Support organisation that is committed to reducing the suffering caused by poor mental health and to promote the improvement of mental health in the area. We provide access to this low cost professional service through G.P., HSE and self referral offering one to one therapy sessions and couples therapy
