Microsoft Powering Wexford Business with Office in the Cloud

Wexford Chamber hosted a very successful Cloud Technology seminar last Thursday evening in the Wexford Opera House.  At the free event which was delivered by Microsoft, nearly 100 attendees heard from Microsoft Ireland’s Denis Meade, who explained how the developments in cloud computing has enabled SMBs, especially smaller businesses and start-ups, to save money and increase efficiency.  Denis spoke about how a company can utilise Microsoft’s cloud services to enable staff based in different parts of the world to communicate and share files with staff in Wexford in real time, eliminating multiple versions of documents.

Neil Phelan, Director of HCS Business Solutions highlighted the cost saving benefits of cloud services for small business.  Neil also demonstrated how cloud based IT systems, including Microsoft Office 365, can have a real positive impact on their business in terms of accessibility and functionality, ease of use, greater data security and a more reliable service.  The unique value proposition of Microsoft cloud computing is that it facilitates access to data from anywhere in the world across nearly all your devices, thereby enabling collaboration across time zones between staff.

Commenting after the event, Madeleine Quirke, Wexford Chamber CEO said, “Whether you want to create a more modern and flexible office environment with low overhead costs, connect email and calendar features, or increase real-time communication, Cloud computing can greatly boost your productivity.”

The cloud computing market, whereby business applications are accessed via the Internet rather than through on premise software or ageing servers, is growing rapidly.  Moving to a cloud model is now seen as a mainstream element of IT strategy with businesses across a board range of sectors realising the benefits.
